The Belle de Choisy Cherry is an exceptional variety born in 1760 in the royal gardens, the fruit of the meticulous work of gardener Gondouin for Kings Louis XV and Louis XVI.
This illustration captures the essence of this rare cherry: translucent fruits 23 to 25 millimeters in size, with shiny skin that ranges from amber yellow to delicate light red in the sun, encasing remarkably sweet flesh.
This plate comes from the prestigious Traité des Arbres Fruitiers by Poiteau and Turpin (1807-1835), emblematic of the golden age of botanical illustration.
